At voco Ghent, sustainability is part of how we welcome and care for our guests every day. Inspired by voco hotels’ “step by step” philosophy, we are committed to making thoughtful choices that reduce our environmental impact while maintaining the warm and premium experience our guests expect.

From reducing single-use plastics and encouraging responsible resource use to supporting local initiatives and partners, we continuously look for ways to operate more consciously. We believe that meaningful change happens through consistent small actions, which together create a positive impact for our guests, our community, and the future of our hotel.

By integrating sustainability into our daily operations, voco Ghent aims to provide a stay that is not only comfortable and memorable, but also more mindful of the world around us.

Green Key

We are proud to hold the Green Key certification, an internationally recognized label for sustainable hospitality and tourism. Green Key is awarded to hotels and establishments that meet strict environmental standards and demonstrate a strong commitment to responsible operations.

This includes conscious practices related to energy and water consumption, waste reduction, sustainable sourcing, and environmental awareness among both guests and staff. Through these efforts, voco Gent continues to take meaningful steps towards a more sustainable future, while ensuring a comfortable and high-quality stay for every guest.

Recycled Materials

Our duvet and pillow fillings are made form 100% recycled materials.

Reduced plastic usage

Our guest rooms are equiped with refillable water bottles and bathroom amenities, reducing the usage of single-use plastic.

Reduced water consumption

Our bathrooms are equiped with aerated shower heads, which can help reduce water consumption by 30-50%

Local suppliers

voco Gent has tight relationships with suppliers from the area. In LUMA Restaurant & Bar Lounge for example, we serve Belgian beer that comes from local suppliers.

Guest engagement

We support our guests to use their towels environmentally. Only when towels are on the ground, they will be replaced. This way, the laundry load is reduced.
